Death Bed. donuts
While visiting the death bed of an old friend, I witnessed the tradition of bringing cakes and casseroles and flowers.
It struck me how much these rituals had transformed from baking to buying.
A nephew came with a large flat box of Dunkin Donuts.
I opened it and photographed the offering.
Later I painted the new ritual.
The new tradition.
Bringing what is recognized. The familiar.
