The Big Boy
The Big Boy is an ORIGINAL POLAROID taken with the POLAROID MINIPORTRAIT 452 CAMERA. The camera was designed to produce instant multiple images, for Passports and ID's. By covering all the lenses except for one at a time, I am able to utilize the multiple lenses, shooting four images on one Polaroid.

Growing up, The Big Boy was the iconic mascot of my favorite restaurant, also named Bob's Big Boy. Later I would learn that my Big Boy, went by other names at other restaurants in different states throughout the country.

What was your Big Boy named?

Hi. My name is Barbara Green, and I am a PHOTOGRAPHER / FILIMMAKER, and I love color... and the lack of it...especially the color of vintage color photos and film, that remind me of older color polaroids. I love all the dirt, scratches, pixelation, coloration, leaks, double exposures, bleaching by sunlight, and photographic borders.. that let you know the era of a photograph or film. An all time favorite, is a photograph that has been behind a mat border for years, and when removed, shows the discoloration from the elements hitting only... the shape of the mat.

I am currently in Post Production on the Documentary, PACKED in a TRUNK: The Lost Art of Edith Lake Wilkinson. Cinematographer / Editor / Producer

The Big Boy was one of the SUPERSIZED Polaroid Prints exhibited in my INSTANT GRATIFICATION solo show in Los Angeles, California 2004

Graduated from Brooks Institute of Photography Art & Science 1986

... take a picture... it lasts longer!
